Take a walk with me tracing the route between Luxor and Karnak Temples.  

We will walk the streets beside the avenue taking in the incredible sphinxes and the local life of Luxor seeing the newly unearthed ancient monuments and the changes in the city landscape because of the discovery.

We will talk about the discovery of the avenue and a bit about why the avenue was created and how it has affected the locals. Talking about the displacement of the people living on the avenue and what it means for the locals.

This was my second tour with Lesley and she is excellent.  Everything explained beautifully and with a great sense of humour.    I look forward to more trips with her. 

Although Lesley is a passionate tour guide, I guess it’s not her  fault That the road of the Sphinxes is very much a lot of the same stuff to actually look at, but her history and interest in her country is admirable

A wonderful walk along the avenue of the sphinxes with an excellent and informative commentary. Egyptology is a fascinating subject and to have close up shots of the ancient road and the 1000 sphinxes was amazing.  Thanks to Lesley for a wonderful insight into this fascinating part of Egyptology.

Lesley is a really good guide. This was my second trip with her and there combination of local, cultural, historical and social history brings the tour to life. Pleasant guide, but not much variety. Unfortunately unable to get good postcards, and archaeological site prevented a closer view of the topic of the tour.

Loved this tour, Lesley. You really bring Luxor to life for us, but not just the ancient side.  How lovely to see the domestic animals on the streets. It's such a different world to ours in the UK.

I like the spunky, slice-of-life experiences Lesley provides. I thought we would ge walking together on the actual avenue but it was interesting seeing either side of the road in this area of Luxor as well. 

A good mix of historical and social as we walked the ceremonial way from Luxor to Karnak.


You do an amazing job filling in the blanks and looking for postcards.  Always able to find a pastry shop.  Hopefully will make it to Egypt in 2022 and will know what I am looking at.  Thanks!

Great information, and when someone asks a question Lesley answers with the first name of the person answering, so advice, read up to find the questions, as repeating questions takes more time away from tour 

Enjoyed the mix of history and street life. Archaeology is incredible  and brought back our amazing memories of the area.

Very good tour. Lovely opportunity to see the area. My only disappointment guide only answers some folks questions and not others so not as responsive as other guides

Lesley  is mindful of the camera to provide time for photographs.   Her tours are always very good. 


Nice and leisurely walk along the  3 metres Sphinx Avenue seeing local people and surroundings. 

I couldn't get into your until 5 minutes before the end due to technical problems at my end so cant really comment. Will book another tour with her.

Lots of good information about the reconstruction of the area.  Good place to visit.

I have been on other trips with Lesley and they are always of high quality and informative.  She gives us opportunities to learn about local shopkeepers and wares sold whilst behind her the ancient past is being rediscovered.  Fascinating

When I think of Egypt, I think of landmarks and historical information that makes Egypt attractive. You should never expose the plight of a community. It was clear that the poverty and brokenness was there. To see malnourished animals going after scrapes of food on the ground and dogs not leashed and unkept was very heartbroken. Please don’t ever do a tour like this again.  I was very disappointed in seeing this. Muslims are very religious people and for you to not at least show us something more positive, was shameful. Please don’t use this site again it did not do the Country any justice. I didn’t want to take pictures because it was very sad to see this. You even made a comment about the women that was contradictory because not all muslim women are treated that way. Please select another area that has landmarks that are visible.  Good luck

wow I was blown away, so fantastic, really well presented

Rather a mad dash with not as much on the sphinxes as I would have liked - lots of street food and stray dogs! The best was the final 5 minutes! A long walk for Lesley - perhaps a shortened route (i.e., not all of the Route) at a more relaxed pace would be better? Shame, really.

What a super tour, I was a bit late joining but really really enjoyed. Thank you/

The history is absolutely incredible in Egypt and Lesley was very knowledgeable. Wasn't afraid to say that she didn't know something if someone asked. Also got the added bonus of looking around some of the local shops and stalls! 

Trouble logging in so missed start and signal bad meant also missed a lot at the end. But what I saw was interesting, will have to do same tour another time!

Thanks Lesley - you obviously love your adopted city and it's so good to see the excavation process going on.  Looks stunning now - will be absolutely spectacular in a few years !

Another great tour with Lesley in Luxor on the Avenue of the Sphinxes (may not have the title exactly right lol  but it is close!):)  It is amazing to see these lined up very precisely.  We also got to visit a site that allowed a very upclose view of them.  I am so appreciative of this opportunity to have a guide like Lesley to explain some of the background and history of the Sphinxes.  It is also very interesting to catch glimpses of daily life in Luxor and noticed a few things: sheep in the city, a man riding a donkey in the traffic lane just ahead of a car,  a cart with either a horse or donkey hauling it and several men walking in the middle of the street where the traffic flows;)  No one seems to be fazed or surprised at all.  Interesting comparison.  Recommending this tour with Lesley, she is a really great guide!  

A lovely walk up the Avenue of Sphinxes, and it brought back some great memories of being there exactly a year ago. Lesley was a great guide and conversed fluently with the locals to allow us to see some local produce. I'd love to do another tour with her :-)

Excellent tour where the Avenue of sphinxes looked stunning. 

This third tour with Lesley was just as enjoyable as the first two.  Full of noise, busy traffic and everyday life.  At the same time you do see elements of the fabulous historic surroundings, which there is no doubt that Lesley knows like the back of her hand.
