Ft. Tryon was the American Revolutionary War military fort used by George Washington in his efforts to defend the new settlement known as New Amsterdam, now New York City. It came to be because it was the highest point on the island due to glacial deposits of boulders and hills and they could see an enemy attacking from miles away. It’s now a beautiful urban space that includes the Cloisters Museum (which features European Renaissance art and architecture), gardens, views of the Hudson River, and a sweet cafe hidden in the trees. Join Aaron for this scenic and historic tour where you will see a different side of New York to the hustle and bustle of downtown.
Aaron was born and raised in Anchorage, AK and left the “Last Frontier” for the “Big Apple” to pursue an acting career. A life in the theatre has afforded him many terrific opportunities to travel the world and find exciting adventures along the way. His colleagues have often nicknamed him “Frommer” (of the travel guides) or “cruise director” due to his wanderlust and enthusiasm for sharing travel experiences with others! His favorite memories to date include a 4-month concert tour of Japan with the Tokyo Philharmonic and a single day on Easter Island while performing on a cruise ship. Aaron is eager to share with you the rich history of Brooklyn, NY where he currently resides and in a true juxtaposition, the magic of Alaska in the wintertime. Thanks for coming along!
