About the tour

A beautiful, serene tour through the spectacular Liu Fang Yuan, The Garden of Flowing Fragrance, in San Marino, a suburb east of Los Angeles. This gorgeous garden is now just over 12 years old and is one of the most beautiful representations of Chinese gardens outside of China. The architecture, plants and materials are all inspired by the gardens of Suzhou, a city located near Shanghai in southeastern China. The garden was designed and installed after years of international collaboration between Chinese artisans and American architects and builders. Pavilions, paths, rockeries, waterfalls, plants and calligraphy are all waiting to inspire you!

Linda was born and raised in Southern California and loves to share its many adventures with others. Having traveled North America extensively as a professional musical theater actress, her favorite pastime is getting outside and “walking and gawking;” meeting new people, trying new foods, learning about different cultures. Especially in the car-centric city of Los Angeles, taking a walk gives you a different perspective of this complex and historically fascinating town. LA, and its surrounding areas, is a quilt of international neighborhoods that Linda can’t wait to share with you!

lovely garden, would have liked to have seen a 'typical' LA style garden too.

I was disappointed with this tour. The garden is very beautiful, but I expected more explanations about the plants and especially would have liked to have heard about the various pavilions and the different shaped doorways. I would like to have heard about the various bridge styles. It was nice to see the rocks once, the patterns on the walkways once, not numerous times. There was so much that could have been said and shown but too much time was spent on showing and talking about plantain trees and redwoods. The camera was moving too fast to be enjoyable. Plus 'the masked man' in nearly every shot was very distracting. I now know he's your husband but couldn't he stay behind you? Maybe some research before your next tour?
