About the tour

In this relaxing stroll of Higashiyama, one of the most well-preserved neighborhoods of Kyoto, your guide/Ken will show you the overview of the city and talk about Japanese religions, how it works in the evryday life. Follow Ken and start by Yasaka Kōshin-dō, a colorful temple where people pray to have wishes granted, that's popular on social media, and also see the view of Hokan-ji pagoda which holds the 1400-year history. Ken has lots of information about Japan's religious customs as well as personal stories about growing up with many daily-life deities.

Kentaro is a great guide and his family stories give great examples of culture. As we were touring the old village in Kyoto, I personally would have appreciated a bit more architecture and historic lifestyle information.

We were late to join so only saw a bit , but what I saw I really liked. I hope this one will be offered again on or near the same time.

A nice and sincere young man. He walked us through the streets and shared family memories and stories, even sung a song!! A lovely slow tour full of lovely old buildings yet dotted with modern gadgets like vending machines which disperse cans of hot coffee. Saw temples and local people dressed in kimono's. Kentaro puts heart and soul into the tour.
