About the tour

Get to know London as only a Londoner knows it. Most visitors have heard of some of the capital’s plusher districts, like Notting Hill, Chelsea, Kensington or Greenwich. Islington gets less of a look-in. That’s a pity. This contrasting neighbourhood is home to Arsenal, the world famous football club. Its main thoroughfare, Upper Street, is today dubbed Supper Street because of the diversity of its fine dining. Prime Minster Boris Johnson and former PM Tony Blair have both called the place home. Join Mr Londoner, writer, broadcaster and former museum director Antony Robbins in Islington’s largest green space, Highbury Fields. Explore the home of a famous painter - a man suspected as being the real Jack the Ripper. Discover the invention of the 19th century internet and see where Hugh Grant lived in Four Weddings and Funeral.

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We're travelling to London with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you'll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and amazing guide.

The tour will last about 30 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from London. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to book and join, but you have the option to tip the guide during the tour.

Leaving a tip will help support the guides and allow us to offer tours in more places around the world. If you aren't able to leave a tip, then it would be great if you can share the tour with friends and family to spread the word.

Not to be rude but this wasn't great. It sidetracked into an acrimonious political debate (started by Antony) and was basically a mumbled random jumble of a few things.

Technology not brilliant. Not a lot of information but nice to see and learn about the architecture of the area. Too much time spent talking politics.

it was very brave to do a virtual tour on friday 13th and true to form the technology didn't behave which was a shame,.....however I never have much luck with it so don't expect it to!! it was interesting for me as i used to live there back in the 80's and it doesn't look too different which is not something I expected.... i played tennis regularly on those courts and sat shaded under the Plane trees during stifling London summer days. i loved the experience and have signed up to your company and shall be joining you again tomorrow with the Company of Nurses . Thank you

Hi Gina, Thank you for your lovely feedback. It is true we didn't have much luck with technology on that tour and we’re sorry it didn’t go as plan and impacted your experience with us. How great to hear you lived there in the 80s and had a chance to go back somehow! We also hope you managed to join us again and had a better time and we look forward to seeing you soon!

I’ve joined a number of Antony’s virtual tours and each time I learn something new. This particular tour of Islington was refreshing as it went away from the usual big neighbourhoods and took us closer to local London. Antony is such a professional communicator always keeping calm, staying honest and open as he navigates the perils of crossing streets and dealing with the inescapable technology stresses and uncertainties whilst at the same time maintaining a fluid engagement with his virtual guests not only verbally but also in reading the online conversation all of which is happening at the same time!

I love touring with Antony! He's very personable, with boundless knowledge of London old and new. Touring makes me feel more like a citizen of the world again.
