Join Patrick as he takes you to discover the REAL history of the shop ‘Shakespeare and Company’ in Paris. First opened by Sylvia Beach, this shop was a gathering place for writers such as Ernest Hemingway, Ezra Pound, Djuna Barnes, James Joyce, and Ford Madox Ford in the 1920’s. Then we will travel to the 50’s to discover the next generation in the new shop and meet the writers who were called the ‘tumbleweeds’. Finally we’ll travel to Kerouac’s Paris home to finish the tour.
I was lucky enough to travel the world with my job, discover different cultures and meet incredible people. I enjoy sharing the love and passion I have about my own city, Paris. Its monuments, its history, its gastronomy, its culture, and all of its little secrets. I can't wait to share all of these with you!

Get ready for something special. We're travelling to Paris with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you'll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and amazing guide.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Paris. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to book and join, but you have the option to tip the guide during the tour.
Leaving a tip will help support the guides and allow us to offer tours in more places around the world. If you aren't able to leave a tip, then it would be great if you can share the tour with friends and family to spread the word.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.

This was not what I was expecting, a tour on Anglo-Saxon Literature. Patrick led us along narrow streets, pointing out where famous authors had lived. The biggest surprise was seeing the Shakespeare & Co. bookshop. Ulysses by James Joyce was published here by an American, Sylvia Beach. Many other welll known authors lived and worked here. It is the little titbits that make Patrick's tours so interesting though. Now I need to view part one of this tour.
