Join Robin for part II of exploring the Tremé neighborhood.

Building on part I, we will explore some of the architectural styles found in the Treme, as well Louisiana's version of Louis XIV's Code Noir (a decree regulating the treatment of slaves).

Prepare to learn about the historical New Orleans Civil Rights Movement that started during the U.S. Civil War, and how its impact reverberated through the rest of the country for decades to come. 

Robin will close by discussing the many cultural events unique to New Orleans.

I loved walking through Tremé with Robin, and to learn so much about it. Robin is passionate about what she is talking about! I would only suggest two things: speaking a bit slower (not slow, just slower) at times, as not all viewers are native English speakers; giving a short one or two minute context to a couple of concepts (e.g. Union and Confederation) as not all viewers are familiar with US history. Thank you again for your wonderful tour!

We loved both tours of Treme. We usually visit New Orleans at least once a year, but have been missing it so much during the pandemic. We were so excited to get to see the city again virtually. And we learned a details we never knew. We look forward to more tours from Robin. 

Another outstanding tour by Robin! A lot of historical facts about New Orleans...the part that this extraordinary city played during the Civil War that I didn't know- mixed with a nice walk through a neighborhood that captures the architectural designs of housing during that time period. Interesting facts on Slavery, Freedom, and how New Orleans became the musical city that it is. I respect how Robin set expectations of the tour upfront about how she will be addressing questions at the end of tour especially when some tourists ask questions irrelevant to the subject matter, or questions that have already been answered, or ask questions just to be asking. Way to stay focused!!! One little tidbit...it may be helpful to remind tourists again during the tour that you are leaving time at the end of the tour where their questions would be answered so they don't think that you are ignoring them. Also, it doesn't hurt that you do  a brief "check-in" to see if there are questions that everyone understands the subject matter. For instance, some international guests didn't know the difference between the union and confederate soldiers and because some people literally sit inside the Chat Box on every tour, you missed the question several times. In any respect, it was an  absolutely brilliant tour.

The tour guide provided so much information on the Black American community in New Orleans from its early formation during Spanish, French and American conquest. There are of course sad moments when one hears how people were enslaved and were deemed as property and for social status. I will continue to watch. 

Robin’s knowledge of the historical significance enhanced the trip. It is encouraging to museums and other historic sites being restored mostly by residents. The bright colors of many homes are festive  and the area  owners are not restricted by bylaws are creative. The concept of virtual trips is satisfying. Thank you for offering many places to visit.

I thoroughly enjoyed Part 1 of Robin's tour today:)  Did not realize how many musicians are from New Orleans!  I wasn't aware of the Rock 'n Roll connection until Robin pointed out a building that was once a recording studio where some of the biggest names in early Rock 'n Roll came to record their songs.  I was fascinated by the story of African slaves from the area that is now Benin who regularly gathered in the park in the Congo area.  Robin clearly loves to share  the stories of early New Orleans with her guests.  I'm looking forward to taking more tours with her!

The tour was full of interesting history and gave non stop information. I LOVED the personal knowledge and some family history ie Mahalia Jackson. Great insight into your city.  I have been to New  Orleans 6 times and I try to drive through neighborhoods to see how people live.  I'm hoping to be back this year and I hope to go to the museums you showed us. Thank you for a wonderful tour.

Another great tour with Robin. A lot of the time though I missed what she was saying because of her accent. Maybe speak more distinctly and measured.  Again, she had loads of information to impart about this fascinating area.

We have been to New Orleans. We spent a morning in Louis Armstrong Park. We enjoyed the park and the statues, but with Robin we learned so much more than we did when we were there. We also walked the neighbourhoods but did not get their stories.

Thank you for an interesting tour showing the statues around the lovely and quiet park. I found Robin's accent quite difficult to follow as she speaks very fast, please slow down a bit. Will be looking out for the French quarter tour  and other tours soon.
