About the tour

Ohrid is a city that has quite a long history to offer. Throughout the centuries, this city has witnessed the taste of Ancient Greece, the Roman Empire, the Byzantine culture, the Ottoman Empire, but most of all, the influence of the Slavic migration, which is still present today. Feel free to join in on this tour together with Apostolis and explore the old city that is full of surprises. He will take you to the heart of the city, beginning from the top of the hill with the fortress of the Tsar Samuel from the XI century. From there, you will have the best view of one of the largest and clearest natural lakes in Europe, the lake of Ohrid. Next on the list will be the church of St. Clement (together with the archaeological excavation of the First Slavic university which is under restoration). Furthermore, he will take you to the oldest spot in the old city so far - the ancient theatre from the 2nd century B.C. Finally, the last stop will be the national papyrus workshop (handmade paper). The tour ends at the central square where the lake meets us again. Pretty interesting, isn't it?

Meet your local guide

Apostolis

Since the age of 20, Apostolis has been looking for a way to promote the magnificent city of Ohrid to the world. After getting a Bachelor's degree in Tourism in Greece, he returned in 2012 to fulfil his dream, and became a professional tour guide, proudly and generously presenting the magic that the town has to offer to the world. That very same dream encouraged him to open a tour agency, and nowadays, after many years of work and experience, being a tour guide has remained the biggest passion of all for him. Once more, he has the opportunity to present the magnificent town that is Ohrid to you, with the same enthusiasm that he had with his very first tour.

Apostolis has been guiding since Oct 2012

Apostolis did an awesome job considering the internet issues he was dealing with. He kept us well informed with what was happening regarding the earthquake earlier that day. He did the best he could and I appreciate that and learned quite a bit and got to see his beautiful city.

Apostolis is brilliant. He tried so hard but the signal was so bad because of the earthquake that I left early. I have already done this tour and I wanted to do it again because it was so lovely. I felt so sorry for Apostolis but I’m sure everyone understood the problems and I know I shall be joining him again whenever I can. Bravo Apostolis!

Apostolis did the very best he could. It was difficult for him but he carried on and we still saw lots of beautiful things and learnt a lot about the history of Ohrid. Can't wait for my next tour with him. This place is absolutely lovely and I knew nothing about it previously. Planning to visit next year.

Firstly, I would like to say that I always base my reviews on the quality of the guide and the tour content, rather than technical issues that are not the guide's fault. You are a 5 star guide , offering a 5 star tour, so thank you.I have noticed that Apostolis has been apologising for his tour.T here is absolutely no need to apologise. The earthquake is not under your control and most travellers will understand that.I wish to thank you for persevering with your tour. Despite the technical difficulties you gave a very interesting and informative tour of your beautiful ,historical town. Your tour was very informative and seeing the paper being made was a bonus Thank you. I will look forward to travelling with you again very soon-and I hope there were no casualties as a result of the earthquake. Stay safe!
