About the tour

This tour gives an understanding of Toronto by exploring two divergent, but iconic neighborhoods that define the downtown core. Beginning in front of the historic St. Lawrence Market, we will explore this area and understand how and why it’s preserved and how the Market District played a key role in the future developments that now surround it. Internationally recognized, the market was named the world's best food market by National Geographic in 2012. From here we will see signs of Toronto’s massive building boom, including exploring the whimsical Berczy Park, a gateway to the Financial District. We will end our walk exploring the towers that mark this area of the city, and stand as testaments to the style and architectural language from the eras during which they were built. As with most of the city, notable projects currently under development will be also be seen and discussed.

I usually take the tours to look at historical sites but Peter's tour gave me an appreciation for modern architecture as well. I really enjoyed my first visit to Toronto.
