About the tour

The first and arguably the greatest figure of the Medici dynasty that ruled over Florence for roughly 300 years, Cosimo ‘the Elder’ was responsible for some of the most important fifteenth century architecture that we will see in this part of town. Starting in Piazza San Marco, we proceed past the Medici palace (known today as Palazzo Medici Riccardi) onwards to the church of San Lorenzo of which the Medici were the biggest patrons, then round to the Medici Chapels (the mausoleum of the Medici Dynasty). We conclude our stroll in front of the Duomo (Cathedral) in a space appropriately known as ‘Paradiso’.

In a difficult situation because of technology problems Bruce kept going. He provided us with interesting and practical insights about well known areas that the guide books don’t tell you about.

Although at some point during the tour Bruce cannot get response from chat, he stayed on and continued the tour until the connection got back on. He was so courteous to extend his time to accommodate extra request of postcard moments for the dome and cathedral. Really enjoyed his tour immensely.
