The city of Naples was founded by the Greeks almost 2500 years ago and has been one of the most important cities in the world. In the third largest city in Italy and in the first most important port in Europe there is a very particular street that cuts the city in two parts and it's called: Spaccanapoli, or "Naples Splitter". Spaccanapoli is the straight and narrow main street that traverses the old, historic center of the city since the Greek-Roman Age and was called "Decumanus" in Latin. I will take you to discover this street which is located in the heart of the historic center, a Unesco site since 1997. Along the tour we will be able to admire superb examples of Gothic / Medieval architecture such as the church of Santa Chiara or the beautiful façade of the Gesù Nuovo which hides many mysteries and so much esoteric symbols... I will also show you one of the most beautiful examples of Neapolitan Baroque and many Palazzos of the ancient Neapolitan nobles families. The tour will end in piazzetta Nilo or river Nile Square where the Egyptians from Alexandria of Egypt lived in Roman times and a magnificent and mysterious statue will tell us about its existence. Don't be too amazed by the magnificent postcards you can take because your tea could get cold! Your Archaeologist waits for you, ciao!
