About the tour

A former aristocratic area, Saint Germain des Prés offers beautifully preserved streets filled with cafés such as Café de Flore and les Deux Magots where philosophers like Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir would spend days, but also studios for the artists such as Picasso and Delacroix! The place to be after WW2, Saint Germain des Prés was the heart of the literary life and of the jazz scene of Paris. We will also see the oldest café of Paris where revolutionary members but also Benjamin Franklin would go and explore the former territory of the oldest abbey of Paris: Saint Germain des Prés!

Florent was awesome! I speak English, French and German, and I have been to France about six times. I truly love exploring and learning new and interesting historical facts about this wonderful city. I enjoyed Florent's walk through such a fascinating part of Paris. So amazing to see le Procope from the seventeenth century and, across the walk, a location that has ties to the thirteenth century! One of my heroes is Thomas Jefferson, and I know he lived/socialized around Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Neat to see! Thank you! :)

I enjoy seeing all the small details that Florent points out on these tours as well as the overview. Good history as well.

This was my first virtual tour - and what a great idea! Having no-one close and unable to go anywhere, it helped me reconnect with the outside world, an as I have a friend in Paris I gave him a running commentary of where we were and told him to come out and wave!! Seriously, Florent's commentary, though I couldn't always catch what he was saying (but I love the accent), was very interesting, and I can't wait to go on my next virtual tour.

Brilliant, loads of information, no awkward silences (apart from when the mic didn't work properly) great tour guide!
