About the tour

Layers of local history await you in the trendy Gan HaHashmal zone of Tel Aviv. This luxurious neighborhood, constructed by the financial elite of 1920’s Tel Aviv and which has become a dubious area, is currently making a comeback with new, positive vibes. In this tour, we uncover the stories behind the stylish buildings, including a century old love story and the turbulent path to the electrification of the Land of Israel. Arguably, one of the most successful urban restoration projects in Israel, Gan HaHashmal is now as trendy and hip a neighborhood as can be.

Tomer

I've been guiding tours in Tel Aviv since 2008. I started out of fascination with my family's history - the Chelouche family is one of the founding families of Tel Aviv. If you want to learn about how the city has transformed over the course of several generations, then look no further because I'll be able to give you a bit of a unique perspective! I love to show people around Tel Aviv and share stories about why this is the coolest city in the world.

Tomer has been guiding since Oct 2008

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We're travelling to Tel Aviv with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you'll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and amazing guide.

The tour will last about 30 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Tel Aviv. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to book and join, but you have the option to tip the guide during the tour.

Leaving a tip will help support the guides and allow us to offer tours in more places around the world. If you aren't able to leave a tip, then it would be great if you can share the tour with friends and family to spread the word.

Tomer was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, it would be easy to walk around that city and not see half so much as Tomer showed us. Thank you for the tour Tomer!
