About the tour

We have been busy scouting out new routes on the O Morrazo Peninsula of the Rias Baixas in Galicia, Spain. This virtual tour is really a continuation of the walk through the fishing village of Cangas do Morrazo, since we talk about the lost variant of Coastal Way of the Camino de Santiago (St. James Way) over the hills of the O Morrazo Peninsula. Follow part of the way where we think the trail would have gone years ago when the Pilgrims passed through this area of the coast. We follow a stream passing by some Molinos (old mills) where the corn flour was made for generations. A lush green landscape full of small vegetable gardens, cornfields, vineyards even kiwi plantations. Learn how the corn is milled, and how the vines are tied down, etc... Not forgetting about adding the history and legends, we stop at an 18th-century Baroque church with a legend of the "Meigas" (Witches)! There are tales of the past that the bells of the church would ring by themselves on a Saturday night to summon the witches to gather. Ending with following through a portion of a woodland nature trail that leads over the hill to Santiago de Ermelo, which will be on the next part of our virtual camino way!

Meet your local guide

Sean

Far from just reading out of tour guide books, Sean O’Rourke has immersed himself in his adopted country (Galicia, Spain) and truly wants you to understand and enjoy its culture. He personally guides their specialized small group historic, gourmet food & wine tours in Galicia. Sean is well versed in the various topics covered on the tour such as Celtic Hill-forts and music, the religious pilgrimage to Santiago, Galician-Roman-Celtic history, wine making, wine tasting, Galician modern & traditional cuisine, etc. Sean’s travels have taken him throughout Europe and Britain extensively. His interest into the Spanish culture has given him the ability to speak fluently in Spanish. Sean would be glad to translate and help with some basic vocabulary while on your vacation in Galicia, Spain. One of Sean’s many pastimes is the study of Ancient Celtic history, Galicia and it’s connection to the other Celtic nations (Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany and Isle of Man) has been his latest project and would love to share with you all the legends and stories of Galicia. Sean is Canadian, but of Scottish & Irish roots and his wife Angie is Galician, their goal is to show visitors an insider’s point of view of “GALICIA, SPAIN’S HIDDEN CELTIC PARADISE” "

Sean has been guiding since Sep 1999

Beautifully done Sean and Son! Galicia has so much character, and just like the first tour I had with Sean, his personality was equally as magnetic. As we walked along the countryside through the fields and streams, Sean was attentive in allowing time for great photos and checking in with the tourist for visual and audio quality feedback. I really, really appreciate his attention to detail and eagerness to make sure that every tourist has a positive experience. You will see it all on this tour...Chicken Sheep, Eucalyptus Trees, Kale and Cabbage growing, Orange and Lemon trees and of course, the corn fields and vineyards. Very informative. Great storytelling. Great tour.
