About the tour

Wat Arun is a landmark temple on the west bank of the Chao Praya river. It is one of the most stunning temples in Bangkok, not only because of its riverside location but also because the design is very different from the other temples you can visit in the Thai capital. Wat Arun is dubbed "Temple of Dawn", partly made up of colorfully decorated spires and stands majestically over the water. Given the beauty of the architecture and the fine craftmanship. The imposing spire rises above nearly 70 meters high, beautifully decorated with tiny pieces of colored glass and Chinese porcelain placed delicately into intricate patterns. It's absolutely stunning at sunset, particularly when lit up at night. Even so, the quietest time to visit is early morning, before the crowds.

I appreciate Kay spelling out the Thai words, that's so helpful. I can't follow all the different kings but I really like learning about the origins of different aspects of temple architecture, like the corn cob tops (prant) on Cambodian pagodas.

Kay climbed up and down steep steps to show us everything he could at the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. His knowledge and command of English are very impressive. I hope we have more tours scheduled with him!

Thoroughly engaging tour. Extremely photogenic temple - almost felt as though I was actually there. Some irritating wind noise at times but mitigated by the excellent camera work.
