The Yuyuan Bazaar area is part of the original Yuyuan Garden and dates back nearly 500 years ago from the Ming Dynasty. Today this is one of the most iconic areas of Shanghai for visitors, but once served as the core of Shanghai's city centre. You will still see a wide range of ancient buildings, statues, as well as a wide variety of shops with local goods, restaurants including hand-made delicacies, and meandering narrow streets. Let your guide Apple share with you the history of this area as well as help you virtually browse along the years of Chinese culture as she shares vivid stories along with the views.
Apple is one of the most optimistic, enthusiastic and delightful guides you'll ever meet. She has been a Shanghai tour guide for six years now and loves helping customers enjoy Shanghai. As a truly local Shanghainese, Apple will show you the city with vivid hidden stories some you won't find anywhere else. After her in-person guide services, all of her guests say a tour with Apple is like hanging out with a sweetheart friend. As a virtual guide, you'll enjoy seeing not just some of the iconic sites of Shanghai, but the exploring backstreets and hearing the stories of famous and not-so-famous Chinese to get a rich understanding of today's culture in China.

Get ready for something special. We're travelling to Shanghai with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you'll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Shanghai. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to book and join, but you have the option to tip the guide during the tour.
Leaving a tip will help support the guides and allow us to offer tours in more places around the world. If you aren't able to leave a tip, then it would be great if you can share the tour with friends and family to spread the word.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.

Very enjoyable tour, interesting and informative. Alices English is very good and she is very easy to understand and she went to a lot of trouble to please people.

I was looking forward to this tour and Alice did not disappoint. My daughter lived in H.K. and then Shanghai for 10 years and we paid many visits. Today I saw a lot of changes ,but the spirit seems to be as I remember. So lovely. I look forward to Alice's next tour. Maybe a slight pause on particularly photogenic items would be good, though everything is so quick-moving that that may not be possible. But OK. That's the excitement of Shanghai! Thank you so very much.
